Located forty kilometres north-east from Brescia, Gardone is called the "garden city" of the western coast of Lake Garda. Since 19th century a popular meeting place for the nobles of the Belle Époque, today it is one of the most renowned resort areas.
Among the illustrious people that had chosen the town as a place to live, should be mentioned the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, whose villa "Vittoriale degli Italiani" is one of the most visited monuments nowadays.
